Chore Charts, Weight Loss and Lemon Lips

The summer is a great chance for me to really look closely at my kids and their little quirks and habits.  I see more in the summer, we’re less structured, no ritual bedtime, no homework hours, no agenda.  Just go-with-the-flow.  With my photography business in full swing, and a few website and graphics projects in the works, I needed to get the boys on board for more responsibility and help around the house. So I implemented a chore-chart/reward program for the three oldest boys. I found it HERE,   while skimming through Pinterest

I love this, I posted the chore lists on my broom closet, and stuck a basket with the poem in the living room.  The thing that I like most about this list is that it has expected chores, and then bonus (reward) chores. Trying to instill in the boys that there are things that we do simply because they are necessary to make a family function is more difficult than I imagined.

The top chores are the ones that are essential to keeping our house running {**cough-cough**} smoothly. The bottom chores are punch card chores that reward the boys for pitching in above and beyond what they’re required to do.  This is great for my boys who are super-competitive! It’s been challenging to get them on board, because face it, who doesn’t want mom to do everything.

But for the most part it’s been pretty seamless!

Now, I wonder if there is a chore chart for husbands who can’t seem to pick their underpants up off of the floor?!

Quick check-in with Operation Get Skinny; I took most of last week off, not because I wanted to, but because my belly has been giving me grief, again….But I am back on track this week, and feeling better! Yay!

P.S.  Potter is not a fan of lemons, I am so happy that I caught this on video! Hehe, it makes me smile!
