Vacation

I got to go on a much needed very fun girls weekend away.  One of my good friends has a sister that is getting married in August, so we made the drive to Washington to visit for the long Memorial Day weekend.  It was so much fun.  We got to eat in sit down restaurants and order things besides McDonald’s chicken nuggets.  We got to have a pedicure, talk about grown up things and not have to worry about making it home in time for naps, and bedtime!  Our trip was so much fun!

I had been to Spokane once before, but only long enough to use the bathroom and buy a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts!  So it was great to be able to explore a new place.  We visited a church that is pastored by a good friend of our local pastor’s.  It felt familiar and comfortable.  I was telling my friend, that I think if I had to, I would be able to move away from Billings, as long as I had a church to call home.  Finding somewhere familiar and comfortable, would be half of the battle for me to be able to resettle somewhere else.  The other half would be that my dad and mom would let the air out of our tires if we ever tried to move our family somewhere else!

I missed quite a bit while I was gone, and though it was fun to leave, both my friend and I were counting mile markers (and highway patrol) while we were coming home.  It seemed to me that last 50 miles were the longest stretch of our journey.

Quick recap of what I missed:

  • Potter grew a tooth.

  • Cooper caught his first gigantic fish (he and my dad went fishing at Fort Peck Lake)  Cooper told me that he caught a “Big Fat Bass.”  I laughed and told him to be careful how he says that! It could get him into trouble! 😉

  • A friend of mine, who lost her son recently, found out she’s pregnant again.  So please remember her and her husband and their new little life, in your prayers.

  • My sister kept the boys part of the time while I was gone, and she started feeding Potter big boy food, he LOVES it!  Maybe he’ll get chubby yet!

  • Mac decided that he’s going to be the next Karate Kid and Mercer was just happy to have me home!

My boys grew about a foot while I was gone, and I don’t know whether or not to be sad, that they managed just fine without mama… I guess it is a testament of  how great of a dad Kevin is, but kind of scary that he can manage just fine without me!  Eeek, I need to be needed! 🙂

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend, and please remember my friend and her family.  Let’s shower them in prayers while she walks the road of pregnancy after loss, it’s such a difficult and scary journey.  But I have faith that God has this baby in the palm of his hand, and has big plans for its little life.

Blessings,
