Our family grew by 4-paws.

A little over a year ago, we had to put our beloved Lab (Ellie-Mae) to sleep.  She got really sick, and rather than watch her struggle, I had to make the hardest decision of my adult life…..Don’t get me wrong, lots of things in my life have been challenging.  Those of you who follow this blog, know our story….The thing is; most of the challenges our family has faced, haven’t been because of our “decisions”  they have been because we live in a fallen world, and sometimes bad stuff happens to good people.

Ellie (Ya-ya) was a different story.  I had to make a choice to willingly take something that I loved, something that my boys adored and put her to rest.  I had to knowingly break my kids’ hearts, and there was NOTHING I could do about it.  Our oldest son was heartbroken, and for weeks he mourned the loss of his best-friend.

We always knew that we would eventually get another dog, but we weren’t ready to replace Ellie as soon as I thought we would be.  On Tuesday, I saw a puppy in the pet section of Craigslist.  She was free and just 8-weeks old.  I called Kevin and asked him if we could get her.  He wasn’t convinced and I had to do some major bartering to convince him we needed her.  I won’t tell you what was bartered, but I am sure you can imagine! 🙂  He agreed, and I went to pick her up.

Out of the car bounced this little ball of silvery-grey wrinkles, with bright blue eyes.

We LOVE her.  I forgot how much fun it is to watch little kids with a dog.  They bounce and run and play, and the best part………they sleep REALLY GOOD.

I went shopping with my mom last night, and I kind of chuckled to myself, I finally get to buy pink!  Pink collar, pink leash, pink food bowl and a pink,puppy-sized sweatshirt (she’s a wimpy warm-weather dog.)  Not exactly the kind of pink I was hoping to buy, but hey….I’ll take it! 😀
